I love my slow cooker. There are two general situations that I will put it to use. 1: as the vessel for when I am cooking something low and slow. 2: when I would like my meal to cook itself.
This is one of those recipes that will “cook itself” if you have a slow cooker. All you need to do is combine ingredients, press a button, and in 4 hours, dinner is ready!
Sausage and peppers are a delicious, flavorful, and versatile recipe. You can put them in a sandwich, on top of polenta, or stir it into a big bowl of pasta.
slow cooker sausage and peppers
- 1 lb hot sausage
- 1 red bell pepper sliced
- 1 orange bell pepper sliced
- 1 medium onion sliced
- 1 quart marinara homemade or store bought
- 1 T brown sugar
Place all ingredients in slow cooker. Stir to combine.
Cook on low for 4-6 hours, until the sausage is cooked through. Slice sausage after cooking if you wish.
Store in airtight container in refrigerator for up to 3-4 days, or in freezer for up to 6 months.
