This is my absolute favorite biscotti recipe.

Not only because it is so tasty, but it is my great grandma, Lena’s. I love making them an I hope you do too!

ingredients

  • 2 c all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3/4 stick unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • confectioner’s sugar, for dusting

instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350° F with rack in the middle of the oven.
  2. Butter and flour a large baking sheet. Knock off excess flour.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In a separate large bowl, beat butter and sugar on high for about 30 seconds, or until well combined. Add eggs and beat until well combined. Stir in dry mix. Dough will be stiff. Stir in walnuts and chocolate chips.
  5. Half the dough. With floured hands, form dough into two slightly flattened 12 x 2 in logs on the baking sheet, at least 3 inches apart from each other. Sprinkle top with confectioner’s sugar.
  6. Bake until slightly firm to the touch, about 35 minutes, turning baking sheet 180° halfway through. Leave oven on and place baking sheet on cooling rack about 5 minutes.
  7. Transfer logs to cutting board. With a serrated knife, cut diagonally into 3/4 inch slices.
  8. Arrange biscotti cut side down in sheet. Bake until crisp, about 10 minutes. Place on cooling rack until cool.
